If you have ever dreamed of owning one of the 176 Walter WA2000 sniper rifles ever built, your wait may be over! Rock Island Auction Company has made it known that they will have one of these rifles up for auction in their May Premier Firearms Auction. If you are unfamiliar with the legend around the WA2000, go ahead and read our article about the rifles here. The rifles were available in multiple calibers, with the .300 Win Mag being the most desirable. Oh, and of the 175…only 15 of them were imported into the USA. So this really is a rare opportunity.

The rifle pictures above sold in another Rock Island auction in 2020 and while the estimates placed the expected sale price between $50k-$75k, the estimates were a bit off. The rifle ended up selling for $97,750 USD. Yes, you read that number correctly.
Rock Island has not provided details yet on exactly which rifle is up for sale or the caliber or condition, but I would expect it to be very high grade, as I am not sure any of these rifles ever really saw much field use. Also, if some of you that are unfamiliar with the rifle think it looks vaguely familiar, let us not forget that the master spy James Bond used one in “The Living Daylights”.

None of us here at SC have any first hand experience with these rifles…and unfortunately our budget does not allow us to participate in this auction, but if anyone out there does have one, hey, we would be more than happy to give it all the attention it deserves here on the site and would give it a full in-depth review.
In the meantime, good luck to everyone when the bidding starts in May!
